Senior pets  have a lot to offer! We believe the companionship of an animal adds greatly to quality of life for both the animal and the caretaker. With this in mind, we are working on a new Seniors for Seniors program.

If you are a senior citizen and you are looking to adopt a senior pet, we will cut the adoption fee in half!! Just look on the Animals for Adoption page - all eligible dogs will say "This dog is eligible for the seniors for seniors program!"

It is never too late in life to adopt a pet....

Top 10 Reasons to adopt a senior dog!!

1. Senior dogs are often the first to be killed in area shelters. Passed over for cute and cuddly puppies, they often do not have a chance and must go to make space for more puppies.

SENIORS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM
Below are some of our long-time seniors that are looking for their forever homes!
Chip is a sweet senior dog that has been waiting for 2 years for his forever home!! He would love to snuggle with you on the couch but he's also ready for a brisk walk around the block if you prefer!
Spunky is a sweet older dog with some heart problems so he is looking for a quiet home where he can retire.
Zeus was left at the shelter when his caretaker moved and couldn't take him with them....I know, I know.....why would you leave your 15 yr. old dog behind <sigh>...we asked the same question and couldn't leave this old guy in the shelter where he was so upset. Zeus requires little care as he likes to sleep best of all!
Brandy is another long-term Forever Home Rescue resident who has been waiting patiently for her forever home. Brandy is one of those unique dogs who actually seems to be getting younger in foster care! We initially thought she was over 10 but we're not so sure anymore. She still can be playful and loves to snuggle on the couch. Brandy has dry-eye which requires daily eye drops. She recently underwent surgery to remove one eye as it had ruptured. This has not slowed her down and she's just as happy as ever!
Taz was left alone in his home for several weeks when his elderly ower was hospitalized. A family member was stopping by once a day to see to his needs. Can you imagine how lonely he was? Taz is a spry 13 yr. old Pomeranian. His favorites are sleeping behind the couch and dinner time! Taz will be sure to let you know when it is time to eat. Taz is completely housebroken! He's not a big cuddler but will go for a walk if you'd like.
