Please take a moment to read our adoption policies before submitting your application. You may be surprised to find that adopting an animal is a more involved process than you anticipated. Please keep in mind that everyone goes through the same process and we are not doing this to upset you…our goal is to find the best homes possible for the animals in our care.
Our website is not intended to be viewed as a catalog. Even if you love the way a dog or cat looks, the dog/cat’s personality may not be a match for your family or lifestyle. We take pride in our adoption success rate and are very careful about placing the right pet in the right home. This is only because our main concern is finding a forever home for all the animals in our program.
Adoption Process: The first step is to fill out our adoption application. Your application is a way for us to verify you are ready to adopt and to match you with the best candidate. We will do personal reference checks as well as a veterinarian reference check. This is needed to ensure the safety of any new pets entering your home as well as your own pets. Once your application has been approved, we encourage you to come and meet the animals you are interested in adopting. If all goes well and you have found the perfect match, we will set up a home visit to ensure you are ready to bring your new family member home.
Once the visit is complete, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee. The adoption fee covers veterinary care, vaccines, spay or neuter, deworming, heartworm and flea preventative.
Please note we can not hold animals for anyone. Our foster homes are in high demand and we simply do not have the room to hold an animal indefinitely. All adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as the applicant meets all of our requirements.
Again, we understand the adoption process can be frustrating for you and your family. We hope you understand that it is even more frustrating when an animal is returned because the adoption did not work out. So….please try to bear with us and be as patient as possible. Understand that going through this process the way we do will have the best outcome for all of us, especially the animals.
